TedX

I was invited to a TEDx conference at the University of Toronto, where I gave an accessible overview of tipping points and how mathematical concepts can help us understand and control them.

3-Minute Thesis

The 3-Minute Thesis is an international research communication competition that challenges graduate students to explain the breadth and significance of their research to a non-specialist audience. I'd recommend partaking to any graduate student that gets the opportunity - it's great for public speaking development and networking.

GRADTalks: Tipping Points in Complex Systems

The GRADTalks seminar series hosted by the University of Waterloo, brings together researchers from alternate disciplines to address a common theme. I worked alongside Yonatan Strauch from the Department of Environment, to address the theme of tipping points in complex systems, using complementary insights from each of our disciplines. Following presentations was an engaging question and answer period with an audience that included Feridun Hamdullahpur, President, University of Waterloo. The experience of collaborating across disciplines to produce cohesive presentations and critical debate was enriching to my own research, and Yonatan and I continue to share ideas surrounding tipping points.

Applied Mathematics Graduate Colloquium

A talk on the mathematics of infectious disease, and newly developed tools for predicting disease outbreak in populations close to the vaccination threshold that provides 'herd immunity'.
